Key is to balance up the decision in the individual’s best interest and not that of others and ensure that safeguards are in place to review this decision. As a therapist on a stroke rehab ward, i am involved in alot of mental capacity assessments and on a few occasions had to request DOL assessment from relevant agencies. I will be reading your blog as you make some very interesting points. I am struggling with the idea of best interest as ive seen people being sent to nursing or residential homes in their 'best interest', heart breaking if they 'just want to go home'Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
