We should get Jonathan at MHLO to make some. I think I'd like a mug saying 'Human society would be very different if such choices were made the morning after rather than the night before', as per Baker J in TZ.

On Cheshire - I could only make the first day. I completely concur with Adam Wagner's recent complaint about the uselessness of the Sky TV contract - anybody with a job will struggle to find time to watch the proceedings. What I saw was very interesting though - the beginnings of debates about the social model of disability, the CRPD, the judges were very interested in the potential resource impact of the ruling but equally there was palpable discomfort with the comparator approach. There was some discussion about the safeguards for best interests decisions outside of DoLS.

We've asked the SC for a DVD for teaching purposes, which they're willing to give us, but we haven't been able to get their permission to share this more widely via an edited film. If you are involved in MCA/DOLS teaching though, they might be willing to share a copy with you?Lucy Serieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07820866715125284389noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327718065135964598.post-59254872230076001132013-11-07T18:39:35.990+00:002013-11-07T18:39:35.990+00:00Hello

If Lucy were to give us a flavour of the proceedings, because I'm reasonably sure she watched it all, would she be put in prison? You could probably market the DVD as a stocking filler for the MCA nerd in your life.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7327718065135964598.post-45211424611646480902013-10-30T11:19:02.343+00:002013-10-30T11:19:02.343+00:00Hi Jacqui, I've just called them and we're...Hi Jacqui, I've just called them and we're going to put in a request for a DVD of the footage. We've asked for guidance on whether we can share this outside of the university, and also whether we can put an edited film made from the footage online. You could contact the UKSC yourself, or if we get permission to share we'd be happy to send you a copy. Also suggesting that additional safeguards of dols not required as there are ample safeguards in wider powers of the MCA- Best interests, principle 5, IMCA etc. Where does one start with an analysis of how woefully short of the mark these theoretical safeguards have been?tim whaleyhttp://www.dtwhaleytraining.co.uk/noreply@blogger.com
